Gyrate NZ Ltd started flying Gyroplanes from Tauranga in 2005 and in 2006 imported the first factory made two-seat training aircraft. Three machines arrived by container shortly followed by the principle of the German factory and his Chief Engineer to ensure a smooth transition to flight. The New Zealand CAA inspected this new type of gyroplane and gave it full approval.
Our Chief Flying Instructor converted his Airline Pilot's Licence to a New Zealand Commercial Licence and training commenced. Each year thee more aircraft have arrived and pilots have been trained to fly them all over the Country. Hundreds of people have experienced the exhilaration of flying the 'motorbike of the sky' around Mount Maunganui and the Company is expanding its instructor base to meet demand.
In 2010 our first South Island aircraft was flown down to Dunedin and we now have an experienced instructor trained and operating a second aircraft from Taieri Airfield.
Our German supplier, AutoGyro Gmbh, continues to develop new machines and the range available caters for all tastes and all weathers.
